Introduction

The Young Scientists Summit (YSS) is a flagship initiative of the Nepal Polymer Institute (NPI), Kathmandu, Nepal, a national adhering organization of IUPAC. It serves as a national-level platform that brings together enthusiastic youths from across the country to foster their involvement in scientific and technological development. The summit aims to inspire and empower young researchers, scientists, and students by encouraging them to share their research ideas, innovative projects, and aspirations that contribute to national progress. It is dedicated to recognizing the talent of Nepalese youth and promoting their role in building a prosperous future through science, technology, and innovation. The motto of YSS is “Youth's participation for the prosperity of the nation through science, technology, and innovation.” It is dedicated to recognizing the talent of Nepalese youth and promoting their role in building a prosperous future through science, technology, and innovation.

Objectives

  • To identify and recognize young scientific talent in Nepal.
  • To inspire students toward research and innovation.
  • To provide a national and international platform for project showcasing.

Target Group

  • Students from NEB, CTEVT, IB, and A-Level programs, from grades VIII to XII, are eligible to participate in this prestigious event.
  • The abstract should present research ideas, results, or reviews aligned with current research trends and societal needs.
  • All candidates should deliver a five-minute oral presentation, a poster presentation about their project, and demonstrate their project setups (if necessary).
  • Each project may include a maximum of two students and one mentor, while a single mentor may guide multiple projects. Institutions may submit up to five projects in total, with no more than two projects in any single category.
  • The submitted projects will undergo review by an expert panel, and selected candidates will be duly notified. Each successful participant will be required to present both a poster and a 5-minute oral presentation of their project during the summit. All accepted project abstracts will be published in the E-Abstract Book of YSS-2025.

Awards

    The winners of the YSS-2025 will be selected based on their extended abstract, poster, and oral presentation. The main criterion for project selection will be the novelty of the research. The title of 'Young Scientist' will be awarded to winners in five distinct categories, accompanied by certificates and medals. The award winners will be eligible to apply for participation in the Asia Pacific Conference of Young Scientists (APCYS-2026), which is going to be held in Thailand. Other research and innovation opportunities at both national and international levels will be provided to the YSS awardees. .
